Chicago, IL, February 26, 2007 — Accelitech CEO Kerwin Brandt recently presented Upgrading and Expanding Exisitng Stereotactic Radiosurgery Programs through Joint Ventures to industry leaders in Scottsdale, Arizona on February 26.
Stereotactic Radiosurgery is a non-invasive procedure that essentially ablates a tumor or diseased area with high dose radiation therapy in 1 to 5 doses. Originally developed to treat conditions within the cranium, new advancements in technology provide clinicians with enhanced imaging to accurately deliver higher doses of radiation throughout the body.
"To remain competitive, many hospitals that installed stereotactic radiosurgery devices years ago must now install costly upgrades or entirely replace their devices with new technology," says Kerwin Brandt. "More competition and the expanded clinical enhancements and application of SRS put existing programs at risk unless they adapt quickly."
"Joint ventures structures enable hospitals and physicians to work collaboratively to update and or replace existing stereotactic radiosurgery technology," stays Brandt. "The Accelitech model provides the legal structures, financing, implementation support and ongoing promotion necessary to ensure project success."
