Chicago, IL, March 4, 2008 — Accelitech LLC, a developer of stereotactic radiosurgery programs in conjunction with physicians and hospitals, today announced the appointment of stereotactic radiosurgery (“SRS”) industry leader Maria Freed to the position of Vice President, Program Services.
Freed will lead Accelitech’s Deployment and Optimization Services. These services support Accelitech- affiliated sites in effectively deploying new SRS technologies and implementing successful SRS programs through proven project management structures. In addition, Freed will head Accelitech’s optimization consulting services that provide Accelitech’s hospital and physician clients the tools and guidance necessary to maximize the performance of their SRS programs.
“Maria’s experience in the SRS industry is unparalleled,” says Kerwin Brandt, CEO of Accelitech. “As we build new SRS locations, her experience in maximizing the performance of these programs will enable more patients to get the quality of care they deserve.”
Prior to joining Accelitech, Freed was the Vice President and Administrator of the CyberKnife Center of Miami and the CyberKnife Center of Palm Beach. There she supervised operations, billing, managed care contracting, business development and human resources and has had considerable success creating effective marketing programs and creating efficient operating processes to allow SRS centers to maximize throughput and customer satisfaction. “Her experience in the challenges and opportunities surrounding the development of freestanding SRS locations is unique and valuable in this evolving marketplace,” says Brandt.
Before her involvement with the CyberKnife Centers, Freed led the business development function for HealthSouth’s stereotactic radiosurgery division with Gamma Knife locations throughout the United States, including Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Missouri, Texas and Washington. This included development of the Miami NeuroScience Center Gamma Knife at Doctor’s Hospital, which conducts more gamma knife procedures than any other gamma knife center in the United States.
