Chicago, IL, July 23, 2007 — Accelitech LLC announced today it has successfully completed joint ventures to bring Stereotactic Radisosurgery technology to hospitals in the Northeast and Southwest. With these transactions, Accelitech will have joint ventures that are acquiring or operating multiple Stereotactic Radiosurgery systems, including the Accuray CyberKnife® G4 Robotic Radiosurgery System, the Varian Trilogy® Stereotactic System and the BrainLAB Novalis® Shaped Beam Surgery System.
“We are thrilled to add these new locations through partnership with premier hospitals and physicians”, said Kerwin Brandt, CEO of Accelitech. “As new advances in technology are being developed at a rapid rate, our partnerships have allowed our clients to secure state-of-the-art technology with minimal capital outlay and risk”. For these new sites, Accelitech was responsible for creating the business plans, developing the financial and legal structures and will be responsible for effective implementation and ongoing support for the new sites. In addition, Accelitech is an equity owner in these new locations.
These new sites are located on hospital campuses and feature the latest in stereotactic radiosurgery technology as a component of a broad approach to treating cancer patients. Stereotactic radiosurgery, which uses high doses of radiation to “surgically” ablate tumors found anywhere in the body, is becoming a must have for state-of-the-art cancer facilities and neurosurgical centers of excellence. For many hospitals, however, the high cost of establishing these programs, which can require from $5 million to $8 million in capital, is a challenge. The Accelitech model allows hospitals to secure advanced technology that they might not otherwise be able to provide to their patients and physicians.
“Recent advances in cancer care like stereotactic radiosurgery are encouraging for both patients and those who provide services to them” says Scott Milligan, Chief Development Officer of Accelitech. ”Accelitech has positioned itself to meet the increasing demand for new treatment options by continuing to invest in cancer treatment technologies that are less invasive, more precise, and provide enhanced patient experiences”.
