Accelitech LLC, a leading developer of stereotactic radiosurgery programs, is pleased to announce the launch of its 6th new CyberKnife Center with Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. The new technology will be operated by Saint Peter’s as part of its cancer program, which is accredited by the American College of Surgeons. The CyberKnife is expected to be operational and available to serve the patients of central New Jersey by early 2010.

“The CyberKnife is an exciting new technology option, sometimes referred to as knifeless surgery, for our physicians to offer to their patients who are battling cancer,” said Al Glover, president and chief executive officer at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, a member of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System. “Enhancing tumor targeting allows for greater precision which translates into the safe delivery of higher doses of radiation therapy and the need for fewer patient treatments.”

“Many hospitals like Saint Peter’s strive to build and grow leading cancer programs despite the financial challenges facing the healthcare system throughout the United States” said Scott Milligan, the chief development officer of Accelitech. “Our proven model allows hospital’s like Saint Peter’s to deliver new, competitive technology without the large capital outlay. We act in essence as the capital partner and safety net. With that, our business is experiencing a spike in demand as hospitals and health systems around the country wrestle with these very challenging and real issues.”
