Accelitech's Fifth CyberKnife Center to Open in Colorado Springs

Chicago, IL, October 22, 2008 — Accelitech LLC, a leading developer of stereotactic radiosurgery programs, is pleased to announce the launch of a new CyberKnife Center with Penrose-St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Accuray CyberKnife System was obtained through a joint venture created by Accelitech in partnership with physicians and the hospital. The Penrose Cancer Center expects to begin treating patients on the CyberKnife in the summer of 2009.
The Accuray CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System is used primarily to ablate tumors as well as for other procedures as an alternative to invasive surgery. The Penrose Cancer Center will be the first and only hospital in southern Colorado to utilize the CyberKnife system. With this addition, the center offers one of the most complete arrays of radiation oncology tools in the state.
“With Penrose-St. Francis acquiring the only robotic radiosurgery system with proven sub-millimeter accuracy, we can make untreatable and unreachable tumors a thing of the past,” said Dr. Anuj Peddada, radiation oncologist for the Penrose Cancer Center. “Because of its unrivaled accuracy, we can deliver the entire treatment, non-invasively, in one to five treatments.”
